I made the Seamwork Patsy skirt a couple of years ago and wanted to include it here as it is a me-made item that I wear regularly.

I was drawn to this pattern as it looked like a perfect summer skirt – with MASSIVE pockets. What more could you want in a skirt? I also loved the use of stripes in the pattern sample (above) so wanted to replicate this.
I started off looking for a similar blue and white striped fabric, but then I spotted this AMAZING ric-rac print fabric. I love it so much – the bright colours are perfect for summer and the ric-rac print appealed to me as a seamstress.

I love this skirt – a simple pattern with lots of options to play with pattern and different colour combinations. This is what I did for this skirt:

My absolute favourite thing about this skirt is the back: just look at the pattern matching!!! I had never tried to match patterns before and I was a bit nervous but it turned out perfectly. There is an invisible zip in there somewhere – it is actually invisible.

Whenever I wear this skirt I get loads of compliments, and I love telling people I made it myself.
